                   Valentino Ragni, being of Italian origin, was born in Trimbach 
                    (Switzerland) in 1935. He is Swiss citizen, is married and 
                    has got two daughters. At the conservatory in Biel he got the education for his diploma 
                    in the piano-class of Jacques Chapuis. Afterwards he studied 
                    musical composition and orchestration with Klaus Huber at 
                    the college of music in Basel and percussion with Mr. Schiesser.
 For several years he was member of the Swiss Society for Sound-Artists 
                    (Schweizer Tonkünstlerverein), but then he left voluntarily.
 For his piano piece "Mosaïques 68" Valentino 
                    Ragni was awarded the first Swiss Prize for Composers within 
                    the bounds of the Swiss Federation for Musical Educationalists 
                    (Schweizer Musikpädagogischen Verbandes, SMPV).
 In the SMPV he held the position of Chief Examiner for the 
                    Swiss areas Suisse Romande and Ticino and he was acting in 
                    the Executive Committee. He is honorary member of this federation. 
                    In addition Ragni was member of the expert committee of the 
                    "Kantonalen Kuratoriums Solothurn" in the subject 
                    music.
 He was director of the conservatory in Delémont and 
                    the music school in Grenchen. Owning the Diploma for Early 
                    Musical Education following the method of Edgar Willems, Ragni 
                    was coworker of Edgar Willems and thus involved in several 
                    pedagogical activities in Switzerland and abroad.
 His compositions, consisting of pieces for piano, orchestra, 
                    chorus, organ and chamber music, are performed all around 
                    the world, amongst other countries in Portugal, Austria, Italy, 
                    Germany, Russia, South-Africa and the US.
